Halloween was coming, so I decided to make an interactive toy as my midterm homework for physical computing. The concept is, “Dark Gives Me Life”. In my mind, ghosts commonly come out in the night or hide themselves in the dark, if there are ghosts in our world. So dark is kind of their life resource. Just like the sunshine gives the plants lives, the dark gives the ghosts lives. I want to manipulate the light to interact with the “ghost”. So when night (dark) comes, such as the evening comes, or turn off the light, the “ghost” will be alive.
I use Arduino to make the interaction part of this toy. There is a photocell sensor to detect the light. If the light is weak, it can give signal to Arduino. Then, Arduino will turn on the LEDs, piezo speaker and servo. So the ghost can shake, scream and blink his green evil eyes.
